The National: Dr Kurt Newman: surgeon inspired by being a patient

Friday's edition of the Abu Dhabi newspaper The National featured a profile of our very own President and CEO Kurt D. Newman, MD. Dr. Newman was instrumental in the concept and design of the Sheikh Zayed Institute, and as CEO, his innovative approach and dedication to the children and families we serve is helping Children's National reimagine how we provide care.

"I think we achieved our goal to create the best surgery program for children in the world, by having the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation be the engine for change," he said in the interview. "So now I want to do that for our whole hospital. We have some ambitious goals."

Dr. Peters makes headlines with robotic surgery in India

Craig Peters, MD, urologist, Chief of the Division of Surgical Innovation, Technology and Translation at Children's National, and Principal Investigator in the Sheikh Zayed Institute, earned some international media coverage after performing a robotic surgical procedure on a 3 month old child in India. The surgery was the first procedure to use that hospital’s robot on such a young child.
